Balbala is an optional boss in Act 2 of Path of Exile 2 that stands in the way of the player's Class Ascendancies. However, defeating her is key to unlocking your Ascendancy, so she is an important goal. Balbala is a fairly powerful enemy with many flashy attacks, and if the player has had difficulty with any boss before, she may be difficult to deal with.
If you’re looking for the best loot, you’ll need to check your world map and look for skull icons, which will show the names and locations of powerful bosses you want to defeat, and sometimes they’ll drop PoE 2 Exalted Orbs, which can unlock gear that you can use to defeat Balbala.
PoE 2 bosses are tough, and players will need to wear the right gear and master the combat methods they use to attack their enemies if they want to win. This gear can be refined with POE2 Currency to gain more powerful stats, which can increase damage. If you’ve got your gear ready, here’s a guide to Balbala to help you defeat her.
You’ll encounter Balbala in Prison of Disgraced, which is located just after the first checkpoint in Traitor’s Passage in Act 2. Balbala is a nasty boss that’s more annoying than difficult to deal with. Her attacks are easy to dodge, with the exception of a few, but she has a few special moves that can quickly send the player back to the checkpoint outside her prison. Here are two of her most deadly moves.
Dagger Flurry
You can dodge or avoid most of Balbala’s attacks. However, she does have an attack that involves rapidly throwing a flurry of poisoned daggers, which is so fast that it’s almost impossible to tell when Balbala will strike, forcing you to use a lot of Healing Flask charges, even if it doesn’t kill you outright. The best way to avoid this is to constantly circle around Balbala during the fight.
Poison Mist
Balbala will occasionally turn invisible, causing a poison mist to spread from the center of the arena. If you don’t do anything, you’ll start to suffocate and die. The only way to counter this move is to run around the edge of the arena and find Balbala before the room is completely covered in poison mist. Once you find Balbala, don’t attack. When you get close to her, she will launch a slam attack that deals heavy damage. Dodge her attacks and then continue your usual dodge and counter attack.
Tips for Each Class
In general, players should always stay on the move when fighting Balbala. She is a very aggressive boss with high burst damage, so treat each of her attacks as if they can be killed in one hit. Take advantage of the dodge and block mechanics in PoE 2 to drain her health as much as possible, and she will eventually fall. Here are some tips for specific classes.
First, let’s talk about Warrior. You can use Rolling Slam and Armour Breaker as quick damage combos for a short period of time. Earthquake and Shockwave can damage or stun Balbala when she casts or attacks. But you have to be very patient when using this class.
Next is Monk. You can use Staggering Palm to try and stun Balbala, and knock her down with Tempest Bell and Quarterstaff basic attacks. Decapitate her ghost minions with Killing Palm to build up Power Charges for Falling Thunder. While damaging Balbala, use Frozen Locus and Glacial Cascade to disengage. After using Frozen Locus, dodge back and then use Glacial Cascade. This should put you in the best range to detonate Ice Crystal.
Next up is Huntress. Try to stay as far away as possible when attacking Balbala with your skills. Poisonburst and Gas Arrow are great ways to deal damage while kiting.
Next up is Mercenary, with this class you need to focus on dodging and shooting. You can consider Fragmentation Rounds for close combat, as Balbala is constantly moving around. Use Armour Piercing Rounds to break through her armor first, then attack her with more powerful ammo types.
Next we have Sorceress. Orb of Storms with Arc or Spark can quickly crush Balbala’s health pool. If you use projectile-based spells, you may need to fight in close combat.
Finally, Witch. You can consider using Flame Wall and Raging Spirits Support Gem. Balbala has a large number of AoE attacks, which are very effective against your minions. Rely on Spells and other skills to deal damage.
During combat, Balbala will throw coins, which will create yellow runes. A few seconds after the runes appear, they will summon enemies. Before the enemies appear, step on the runes to disable them. You must leave immediately because Balbala will teleport to that location and launch an AoE attack.
These are some ways to defeat Balbala. After you have mastered them, you can try to kill Balbala in the game. Looking forward to seeing you in the game!
