Arc Raiders updated its game content on March 31st, addressing player-reported bugs and introducing new equipment and content.
This includes a new flying ARC-type robot–Vaporizer; new weapons: Canto and Dolabra; a new project: High-Gain Antenna Player Project; and crafting improvements: the ability to craft materials in a single window instead of switching between different windows, a common issue with crafting equipment.
Most importantly, and most appealing to players, is a new ARC operation:Close Scrutiny.
The developers describe this operation as unsuitable for the faint of heart due to its extremely high danger. Therefore, I will combine the latest information and practical experience to explain the highest success rate survival guide for Close Scrutiny.

Close Scrutiny
Close Scrutiny is a completely new map condition. Unlike previous weather-based maps, it revolves around combat and conflict, rather than focusing on resource gathering.
Once Close Scrutiny is activated, a large ARC machine-Assessor-will land on the map. While it itself isn't offensive, its appearance will attract a large number of ARC patrols to gather around it.
After Assessor appears, the drop rate and quality of items from chests in all areas of the map will drop drastically, with all rewards concentrated on Assessor. Although this operation is very risky, the hidden rewards are extremely substantial.
Maps Where it Appears
Close Scrutiny will appear on four of the maps currently released for Arc Raiders:
- Dam Battlegrounds
- Blue Gate
- Spaceport
- Buried City
Each map will have three Assessors, each firing a red beam into the sky, allowing you to quickly locate each Assessor on the map.
When you approach an Assessor, nearby ARC patrols will quickly detect and attack you. Therefore, it's best to use remote observation items in Arc beforehand to scout Assessor from a distance and adjust your strategy based on enemy numbers and terrain.
Enemy Types
Close Scrutiny primarily features two enemy types: Vaporizers and Roaming Shredders.
Vaporizers
Vaporizers are a new type of flying ARC robot introduced in the March 31st Flashpoint update. These drones typically appear in swarms and are adept at using highly homing lasers to inflict high damage. Their combat trajectories are unpredictable, so it's best not to stand still or simply move and roll during combat.
Before entering Assessor's territory, it's advisable to eliminate Vaporizers patrolling around it. Once combat begins, it's best to take cover in densely populated areas, using buildings as cover, which will give you a significant advantage and increase your chances of victory.
Roaming Shredders
Initially appearing only in Stella Montis, Roaming Shredders have now been expanded to multiple maps in the update, making previously safe areas more dangerous.
To address this, the new update introduces a new targeted item: Surge Coil. Surge Coil directly shocks enemies within its range. Deploying it around you allows you to focus on other tasks without worrying about enemies sneaking up on you.
In addition, be aware that Shredders will make a mechanical scraping sound when they approach. If you hear this sound, you need to adjust your tactics and take appropriate measures.
Essential Equipment
Dolabra
Dolabra, a new Arc Raiders Item in this FlashPoint update, is one of the core pieces of equipment for successful extraction in Close Scrutiny.
It's the fastest way to kill Vaporizers because its attack method is a concentrated electric shock, making it ideal for dealing with groups of Vaporizers. Dolabra can disrupt their aircraft, making them much easier to kill once their flight is disabled.
In addition, it has two attack modes: the wide burst and the focused funnel. Use the wide burst when Shredders surround you; use the focused funnel when you need to destroy Assessor.
Canto
Canto is also a new weapon updated by FlashPoint. It's a clearing weapon focused on close-range combat, effective against ARC patrols and hostile players. It uses Medium Ammo instead of the lighter ammo commonly found in SMGs, making it very effective against high-threat ARC enemies.
Compared to Dolabra, Canto has a much higher drop rate in Arc Raiders Blueprints, especially in Assessor areas during Close Scrutiny operations. However, if you don't have Dolabra, using Canto can significantly improve your survivability in Close Scrutiny operations.
Combat Strategy
Close Scrutiny isn't just simple PvP or PvE; you should treat it as a PvPvE scenario. The most common scenario is that while one squad is breaching an Assessor, other squads remain inactive, waiting until the ARC patrols and Vaporizers are mostly eliminated before rushing in to loot the spoils and supplies.
Therefore, when your squad is engaged in combat, it's best to assign a teammate to scout the perimeter to prevent other squads from taking advantage of the situation.
Furthermore, to ensure your survival rate during Close Scrutiny operations, it's best not to attempt to breach the armor before destroying at least two Assessors, as the loud noise will attract other ARC patrols.
After breaching Assessors and looting the supplies, the extraction point is also an area you need to be vigilant over, as some will bypass Assessors and head directly to the extraction point to ambush. Therefore, to ensure a safe extraction after completing Close Scrutiny operations, I suggest considering a more distant and safer extraction point.
The above is a summary of the key points based on the latest Arc Raiders updates and my own raiding experience. This article is all you need to know about how to survive and safely evacuate in the new Operation Close Scrutiny.
