What Does Doppelghast In CoD Black Ops 6 Zombies Bring To Players?

Fans of Black Ops 6 Zombies mode are rejoicing over the recent launch of its newest map, with Citadelle des Morts simply building on the positive momentum that the game has had since its release in October. Zombies map kicked off the game well, but Citadelle des Morts is still under a lot of pressure to deliver a lot of improvements to the overall quality of BO6 Zombies while also providing a fresh and unique experience for the game.

For example, CoD Black Ops 6's Citadelle des Morts will introduce new perks, ammo mods, and special enemies to the game. This has long been known, and this new enemy type in particular has caused a lot of debate before the map was released. Mangles and Abominations that appeared in Liberty Falls and Terminus have already caused a lot of controversy.

What Does Doppelghast In CoD Black Ops 6 Zombies Bring To Players?

Many fans believe that this new enemy type in Citadelle des Morts is just a reused asset from past CoD Zombies. Despite such skepticism, Citadelle des Morts has taken a positive step towards future content for Black Ops 6 by introducing a brand new enemy, Doppelghast, in Zombies.

Doppelghast has tentacle-like appendages instead of arms, and the developers say they wanted to make the enemy as unsettling as possible. Doppelghast is also described as being super fast and getting in your face.

Doppelghast is a fast enemy that can move clumsily when chasing players and dodge to the sides when hit, which seems a bit weak. Its abilities include firing projectiles at players at range, which will temporarily slow players when hit.

Upon death, it will begin a short countdown before exploding, which will cause players near the explosion point to take damage and be slowed. It has a chance to spawn a Scorestreak. If a Parasite survives for a period of time and there are zombies nearby to infect, it will evolve into a Doppleghast.

Doppelghast Breathes New Life Into BO6

The tense, addictive gameplay of BO6 Zombies has long been enhanced by the appearance of special enemy types. These imposing figures often have many unique combat mechanics that can change the landscape of a particular map by adding difficulty and variety. Predictably, Black Ops 6 takes this element a step further when portraying Zombies mode, while also appealing to fans by respecting the traditional gameplay of Zombies and refocusing the series on round-based maps rather than a more open world experience.

Unlike Zombies mode, the multiplayer mode of CoD: Black Ops 6 Bot Lobbies focuses more on allowing players to freely train or experience the game with less pressure. In Bot Lobbies, players can choose to play against AI rather than competing against real players. This mechanic is perfect for novices to practice their skills or veteran players to test new tactics.

On the two launch maps, Liberty Falls and Terminus, players can expect to encounter elite and special enemies such as Mangler, Abomination, and Amalgam. While these zombies can add a lot to the gameplay experience of these maps, Mangler was first introduced in Black Ops 3, while Abomination made its debut in Cold War in 2020.

The lack of huge originality in the elite and special enemies in CoD BO6 has left some fans rather disappointed. While Amalgam was an original introduction to CoD BO6, all three enemy types have been at the center of a wider shared controversy in recent months.

Prior to the launch of Citadelle des Morts, special and elite CoD enemies had very high spawn rates in the higher rounds, making long Zombies matches boring and difficult in most situations. This led to many people's first impressions of the elite and special enemies being greatly discounted, leaving Citadelle des Morts under more pressure to get things back on track.

Doppelghast Covers All the Bases

Many theories have pointed to Mimic from past Zombies as a new enemy for Citadelle des Morts, especially given how Mimic appeared in BO6 campaign. However, Treyarch has given fans a brand new antagonist in the form of Doppelghast. Doopelghast is a departure from the previous lumbering, tanky special enemy and elite enemy, offering fast and unpredictable movement, with its array of attacks and high mobility.

In addition, Doppelghast has much less health than Abomination or even Mangler, and the new enemy finds a good balance between health and spawn frequency, avoiding the same criticisms of the old enemy type. The overall theme, feel, secrets, and weapons of Citadelle des Morts have proven to be well received by fans, and the introduction of Doppelghast will hopefully be a hallmark of Treyarch's future in Black Ops 6.

These are some of the changes that Doppelghast brings to CoD Black Ops 6 Zombies.
