Greetings, fellow players! For those players who have tried out the Necromancer class in previous seasons, the prospect of adopting a Bone Spear build in Diablo 4 Season 4 is certainly bright given its dominance and effectiveness. The upcoming season will bring some new and more powerful content than before.
Build Overview
One of the standout features of this build is its ability to double Bone Spear through the Tempering system. By tempering the Bone Augments Manual and diligently upgrading it via Masterworking, you can achieve a near 100% chance of doubling the number of Bone Spear unleashed.
And let’s not forget about the Skeletal Mages, who received a significant overhaul in mechanics. Thanks to their ability to inherit our stats, Skeletal Mages can also double their barrage of Bone Spear. With the ability to roll ranks for Golem Mastery, Skeletal Mages, and Skeletal Warriors, each rank provides a substantial 25% to 15% multiplicative buff to your minions.
Gear Setup
Firstly, let’s discuss the helmet. It’s noteworthy that you can roll double Corpse Tendrils in Diablo 4 Items. The Juggernaut’s Aspect remains crucial in Season 4, particularly because of the necessity of reaching around 177,000 armor to meet the new cap. Ideally, aim for Golem Mastery or Skeletal Master for substantial DPS gains.
As for the chest piece, this is probably what you want. The Aspect of Hardened Bones is also mandatory, as damage reduction is near impossible to get because of it being removed from gear. For gloves, it’s extremely easy to reach 100% crit chance now as a Necromancer. As for the aspect, we will rock the Bone Splintering aspect to deal with extensive damage. Then for pants, we choose to imprint the Aspect of Occult Dominion. Now that we want to combine minions with our regular skills.
For weapons, we can now roll attack speed and chance for Bone Spear to hit twice. We’re also using the Unyielding Commander’s Aspect. This should be on the amulet for maximum damage, since we can keep up Army of the Dead constantly. For the off-hand, I’m using Frenzy Dead aspect to boost our minions’ attack speed.
When it comes to the jewelry, I’m looking for some crit chance and resource generation when tempering. In a completely min-max setup, however, we will ditch some of the crit chance as we would be capped already on the amulet. On the rings, we can rock the Aspect of Grasping Veins for more extensive damage, and also the Aspect of Exposed Flesh to not run out of essence.
Book Of The Dead
Our Skeletal Warriors serve as the backbone of this build, responsible for generating corpses. For Skeletal Mages, we’re prioritizing Bone Spear. It’s essential to have Bone Spear on your skill bars for optimal effectiveness, as opposed to Bone Splinters, which only casts one at a time.
Our formidable Blood Golem is the linchpin of our setup. You can utilize the Aspect of Might with damage reduction to ensure its survivability. However, the pivotal aspect for massive damage is the one that grants our Golem a staggering 50% damage boost.

Skill Tree
Let's take a quick look at the skill tree for this Bone Spear Necromancer build, so you'll have a clear idea of what you'll be utilizing in the upcoming Season 4 of Diablo 4. We will start with the basic skills, and here's how we utilize them:
In the core skills, we’re grabbing Unliving Energy for some Maximum Essence, which we will be using for our key passive later. We then max out Bone Spear and grab Enhanced and Paranormal Bone Spear. We also have Hewed Flesh to generate some more corpses.
Next, we head on over to the corpse skills and pick up Spiked Armor to reach the armor cap. We also grab Grim Harvest and Fueled by Death for some easy damage and resource generation. We have Corpse Tendril pulling in all enemies and Enhanced and Plague Corpse Tendril to make sure that all enemies get vulnerable as they are pulled in. We also pick up these for some extra damage.
In the curse skills, we first pick up Amplify Damage for an easy 12% multiplicative damage. After that, we have Decrepify for damage reduction and a way to reset our cooldowns via Abhorrent Decrepify.
Now, let’s head on over to the ultimates. We have a whopping 14 ranks in Golem Mastery for 350 damage. You can use Army of the Dead as it will boost the damage of our minions by more than 100%. Inspiring Leader and Hellbent Commander grant us some more damage as well.
Paragon Board
In the starting board, grab the Undaunted glyph for the damage reduction. We then move to the Flesh-Eater board for an absolutely insane 40% multiplicative damage. Because of this, it’s extremely important to spam summon minions to ensure we consume corpses.
Next, we have the Control glyph for the 20% boosted damage whenever we use Corpse Tendril. We also have the Bone Graft board, which we use for the legendary node to get some more Maximum Essence.
After that, go to the Cult Leader board and pick up the legendary node. It is an absolute priority to get 100% attack speed, as this node is quite possibly the best node in Diablo 4 now that minions inherit our attack speed. The Essence glyph is insanely strong in this build, both granting us 22% multiplicative damage and strong crit damage scaling.
Then, head over to the Hulking Monstrosity board and pick up the legendary node to grant your Golem tremendous damage and socket corporeal for an easy 10% multiplicative damage and movement speed. Lastly, we have the Scent of Death board. We can socket the Golem glyph to grant our Golem even more multiplicative and extensive damage.
