Midnight expansion has been live for a while now, and the game has finally received its first real content update, Patch 12.0.5, which was available to all players from April 21st to 22nd.
The official description of WoW Midnight Patch 12.0.5 is a minor content patch, but it includes a wealth of new content, covering open-world events, group content, new loot sources, two separate mini-games, and class changes. Let's take a look.
Void Assaults
Void Assaults are the highlight of this update. They are open-world attacks launched by Void forces in Eversong Woods and Zul'Aman. After one Void Attack ends, a new attack begins in another part of the area, rotating continuously. You can think of them as a response to previous expansion world events, designed to encourage players to leave the map and explore different areas, rather than having everyone queue for dungeons.
Ritual Sites
Ritual Sites offer new options for small groups, ranging from single-player to five-player modes, designed to deter rituals that fuel the ambitions of Naga and Twilight's Blade cultists. The difficulty and reward structure of these dungeons has been tiered, with greater rewards for higher difficulty levels. They fill the gap between casual open-world gameplay and Mythic+ key dungeons.
Voidforge
This update's most impactful mechanism for gear-seeking players is a powerful new source of equipment, closely linked to raids, Mythic+ dungeons, and Nightmare difficulty Delves and Prey. It provides Delve runners with a direct path to top-tier gear without raid participation, altering Abyss Expedition's role in the gear acquisition system.
Players can use Nebulous Voidcores to more easily acquire specific gear, whether they want to obtain the best equipment for their main character or quickly acquire gear for other characters later in the season.
After defeating a Midnight Season 1 raid boss or completing quests like Mythic+ Dungeon, Bountiful Delve, or Prey Hunt on Nightmare difficulty, players can choose to consume Nebulous Voidcores to obtain a random item matching their gear specialization.
Once obtained in this way, the item will be removed from the corresponding loot pool until all eligible items have been acquired.
Decimu will also offer Nebulous Voidcores for players to exchange for valuable resources such as WoW Midnight Gold, Voidlight Marl, or Veteran Dawncrests.
For the remainder of the season, the number of Nebulous Voidcores obtainable per character will increase by two each week. Because of the limited number and powerful item drops from raids, defeating raid bosses will require two Nebulous Voidcores to obtain these rewards. Other endgame content, such as Mythic+ Dungeons, only requires one Nebulous Voidcore.
After unlocking Voidforge, Decimus needs player help to craft Ascendant Nilhammer. Players can collect Ascendant Voidcores to upgrade weapons and accessories to a whole new level.
New Events
In addition, two new mini-games have been added: Decor Duels and Abyss Anglers. Decor Duels is a PvP hide-and-seek mode where players disguise themselves as house decorations to evade the seekers. It sounds absurd, but it's true. Participating in this fun event will earn your new rewards such as mounts, toys, and house decorations.
Abyss Anglers is an underwater game where players team up to catch as many strange fish as possible with harpoons, accumulating points to unlock fishing rewards and diving gear upgrades, allowing you to delve deeper into Abyss and find the most precious treasures.
Class Adjustments
The official focus is on significant balance adjustments to the healing class, attempting to narrow the gap between support classes in the current version. Previously, this gap was too large, causing some classes, especially in high-difficulty Dungeons and Mythic raids, to fall far behind.
To address this issue, Midnight Patch 12.0.5 nerfed some powerful classes, such as Discipline Priest, Preservation Evoker, and Mistweaver Monk, while buffing Holy Paladin, Restoration Druid, and Resto Shaman, making them more balanced. Let's take a look.
Discipline Priest, in previous versions, could practically sweep through all monsters in raids, therefore they received the most significant adjustment. The official reduction of Atonement healing from 35% to 28% of spell damage will significantly decrease the class's overall healing output. Preservation Evoker was also nerfed, with all its healing effects reduced by 5%. As compensation, the mana cost of Verdant Embrace was reduced.
Mistweaver Monk has been significantly nerfed, with all healing effects reduced by 5%, and Sheilun's Gift's healing effect also reduced (from 10% to 5% per heal).
Restoration Shamans have been buffed in WoW Midnight Patch 12.0.5, potentially alleviating his predicament, with all healing increased by 8% and all damage increased by 30%.
Holy Paladin, a class that has underperformed in previous versions, is hopefully being improved with this buff. Holy Shock's healing has been increased by 10%, and Word of Glory, Eternal Flame, and Light of Dawn have all been increased by 20%. Simultaneously, his absorption rate of Greater Judgment has been increased to an astonishing 250%.
Holy Priest has only received an 8% increase in healing, nothing more to say. While Restoration Druid doesn't receive an additional healing bonus, its damage increase is significant. Wrath, Starfire, and Starsurge damage are all increased by 40%, while Sunfire and Moonfire damage are increased by 25%.
This concludes the content of WoW Midnight Patch 12.0.5. We hope this helps you better understand the game and wish you a great gaming experience.
