Underbog is a relatively easy Heroic Dungeon in WoW TBC Classic Anniversary, located in Coilfang Reservoir. While not particularly difficult, caution is still advised.
In this article, we'll show you how to easily conquer this four-boss Dungeon and provide some tips and tricks!
Group Composition
TBC Classic Underbog has a relatively relaxed group composition; there's no single ideal composition. Your focus should be on having at least two classes capable of interrupting monster spellcasting, as multiple monsters will be casting spells simultaneously. Any class with interrupt abilities will be helpful here, such as Warriors, Rogues, Shamans, etc.
In the early stages of Underbog, there are various types of monsters, so having Druids and Warlocks in your group is extremely useful for players lacking slowing abilities. Like most dungeons, there are also many monsters that can be mind-controlled. Therefore, having Shadow Priest in your party will be very fun after defeating the first boss. Furthermore, you can use Mind Soothe to skip many of the smaller mobs between boss 1 and boss 2. This makes Priest a very valuable class in this dungeon.
As for tanks, all three classes perform similarly here. Druid tanks might stand out slightly because the mobs in this dungeon deal high damage, but using the other two tanks is perfectly fine.
For healing, all healing classes can handle the job; no single class is particularly outstanding. However, this dungeon has many Disease and Poison debuffs, so please make sure someone in your party knows how to dispel these debuffs.
Trash Tips
The most challenging part of WoW TBC Classic Underbog dungeon is the initial and final mobs. The initial mobs can be quite strong, and it's easy to accidentally aggro additional mobs after clearing the first corridor.
Underbog Lurkers and Underbog Shamblers are the most troublesome monsters. The former casts Wild Growth, a berserk skill whose damage decreases as health decreases; the latter casts two spells: Fungal Regrowth and Itchy Spores. Fungal Regrowth is a very powerful healing skill, while Itchy Spores deal significant damage to the player and explode, damaging enemies within range.
However, it's important to note that these skills can be interrupted. Therefore, we recommend having at least two classes with interrupt skills. Slowing skills like Hunter's Frost Trap skill and Mages' Blizzard skill can also be very useful here.
After clearing the initial corridor, players will find themselves in a larger open area. This area has patrolling Underbats, so be sure to familiarize yourself with their patrol routes before attacking. In this room, it's best to walk along the water's edge to the left, as you only need to lure 3-4 waves of monsters to reach the ramp leading to the first boss.
Of course, you can choose to cross the water or skip some of the smaller monsters, but compared to directly pulling the two or three waves of monsters near the water's edge on the left, this method saves negligible time. Furthermore, due to the presence of monsters in the water, the chance of failure is also high.
The first boss, Hungarfen, is guarded by two Bog Giants. Players can walk along the right edge and skip these two monsters. If you choose not to skip them, it's best to focus fire on killing one at a time, rather than attacking both simultaneously, as the two Bog Giants will deal considerable damage to tank.
From the first boss to the second boss, Ghaz'an, you can use Mind Soothe skill on almost all enemies. You can use it to soothe and skip many smaller monsters, speeding up your progress, or to make other smaller monsters kill each other, saving you the trouble of dealing with them personally. The easiest enemy to control is Murkblood Oracle.
After Ghaz'an, you'll come to a corridor with three groups of mobs: Fen Ray, Lykul Wasp, and Lykul Stinger. The easiest way to clear this corridor is to pull each group of mobs far away to prevent patrolling groups from entering.
Finally, before the final boss, there are two Underbog Lords who will severely damage your tank. We recommend using all your damage and mitigation abilities on these mobs, as their damage is significantly higher than the final boss's.
Boss Tips
Defeating Bosses in Underbog has a chance to drop Bind-on pickup items, which can be traded in Auction House for a large amount of Anniversary TBC Gold. Below are the methods to defeat these four bosses.
- Hungarfen: Aside from Underbog Mushrooms spawning more frequently, nothing else has changed. Most groups can defeat him before he casts Foul Spores. However, if he does cast it, make sure no one is within melee range, as this skill will heal him.
- Ghaz'an: Position tank against the wall to avoid being knocked into the water. Other players should be mindful of their positioning to avoid being hit by his Tail Sweep skill.
- Swamplord Musel'ek: This boss is very easy. Ignore the Claw and focus all your attacks on Swamplord Musel'ek. Dispel the Hunter's Mark from him before he uses his Aimed Shot skill. Claw doesn't deal much damage, but it can knock back players. Remember, the boss area is very narrow; players should try to stay in corners.
- Black Stalkers: Their skills deal negligible damage, and most groups can defeat them before they summon Spore Striders. If they do summon Spore Striders, continue prioritizing Boss before dealing with the adds.
This concludes this guide on how to conquer Underbog. We hope it helps players complete this dungeon and prepare for the upcoming TBC Classic Phase 2 Overlord of Outland.
